There are 25 hospitals in Cagayan de Oro and Misamis Oriental; 11 of which are government-run and 14 are privately-owned. The number of beds is greater than the national standard; this means tertiary health care facilities are sufficient for the population and it still can extend services to the municipalities in proximity.
In addition, there are 267 Barangay Health Centers that provide minor health services. Specialized health care are provided by 92 family-planning clinics and 153 medical or dental clinics. Medical manpower appears to be more than adequate.
Most private hospitals and the Northern Mindanao Medical Center are already equipped with the latest medical tools like CT-SCAN, Dialysis Machine, MRI, Nuclear Scan and Ultrasound. The hospitals are manned by specialists in Neurosurgery, Oncology, Nephrology, and Endocrinology. Specialized private clinics for dental, therapeutic, optical and diagnostic services provide additional support.
