Minerals. Misamis Oriental is rich in mineral deposits. Cement raw material and clay deposits top the list. There are mines for chromite, feldspar, silica, bentonite, gold, coal, phosphatic deposit, guano, shale, and limestone.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has issued permits to small-scale miners to operate in 832 hectares with gold, platinum, iron and silver deposits.

Cagayan de Oro
Cagayan de Oro’s non-metallic deposits -- sand, gravel, limestone, and feldspar -- are widely used for industry and agriculture. Many areas have limestone beds. Large exposed limestone bodies are in the vicinity of Indahag. Iron boulder deposits -- magnetite and hematite -- are reported in the vicinities of Dansolihon. Tuburan, Pigsagan and Taglimao have gold, platinum and iron. |
