Exports. Over the years, exports in Misamis Oriental relied largely on traditional products. The major ones are canned pineapple, sintered ore, crude coconut oil, finished lumber and wood products, activated carbon, fatty alcohol, refined glycerine, dessicated coconut and coco shell charcoal.
However, the year 2001 welcomed the entry of a new export product, milk powder, which ranked 5th in 2001, replacing two traditional export commodities -- refined glycerine and coco milk powder. But canned pineapple, fatty alcohol and sintered ore has remained consistently on top of the export commodities.
Exports of the province generated an increasing trend for the past five years, brought about by the changes in price of the international market. Misamis Oriental accounts for more than 50 percent of the total exports of Region 10. The major export markets are Europe, USA, Japan, and China.
